Martel “Marty” Raymon Jackson was born August 30th 1983 to Linda Evans and Booker Jackson in Aurora, Colorado. Older sister Tennille was elated and doted on young Martel.!When he was four years old, Martel’s mother Linda married Kevin Johnson. As they blended their families, Martel gleefully gained a brother, Kevin Deon, and instantly bonded as best friends. Thirty-two years later this family union still stands.!Martel along with his siblings accepted Christ at the same time, and were baptized at Rising Star Baptist church in Aurora, Colorado. Martel was only ﬁve years old at the time. !Martel attended Sagebrush Elementary, Laredo Middle School and Overland High School in the Cherry Creek School District. He was an avid athlete and was interested in all sports. He excelled at baseball, football and basketball. He played and starred on numerous teams growing up, including the Aurora Raiders and the Overland Trailblazers. Martel developed love for music early and was a percussionist in the Laredo Middle school band. He used those skills and later in his life to produced an LP for Denver based music production company.!Martel’s love for hip hop and music led him to success as a rapper in the Denver Metro area. He then took it a step further and wrote many songs, created and produced several albums for himself. He excitedly opened for KS107.5 Summer Jam concert, along side various notable Rappers and Dj’s locally and nationally. In 2007 he received the Performer of the year award. He took his skills with him when relocating, and produced work in studios throughout Dallas.!Martel navigated the workforce and secured a position at Magazine Connection, later renamed as Marketing Unlimited. During his tenure here, he supervised call center agents which lead to assisting with opening call centers across the state of Texas. He later joined the Sales Team at TELvista where he was awarded for his leadership skills on October 10, 2019.!The greatest joy of Martel’s life is his son Emory. Martel was a great father who worked endlessly to provide for Emory and teach him all of life’s lessons. They have a very special and loving bond.!He was a very strong advocate for Dallas, the weather, the people and the food the most. !Christ Our Lord and Savior called Martel home on November 25th 2019. He leaves to mourn a son Emory Jackson, his loving parents Linda & Kevin Johnson, life partner Stephanie Edwards, sister Tennille Jones, niece Tyme Anderson, brother who preceded him in death Kevin D. Johnson, father Booker Jackson grandmother Pauline Johnson aﬀectionally known as Madear, aunts and uncles: Janet Small, Melvin (Barbara) Evans, Sharon (Kevin) Matthew, Michael (Anita) Evans, Marlon (Yolanda) Johnson, Chantelle Evans, Harlan Woods, Debra Woods, Francine Evans, LaDonna (Keenan) Wormley and a host of cousins, friends and family.!
