Lorane Johnson was born August 27th, 1946 in Pittsburg, Texas to the union of L.M and Variee Johnson. She was the eleventh born of 18 brothers and sisters. She joined Hickory Hill CME Church at a young age and she went on to study with Jehovah Witness’.
She graduated from Frederick Douglass High School in 1964. After graduating, she moved and started her life in Seattle, Washington. At the beginning of her stay in Seattle, she lived with her brother and sister-in-law Robert and Marian Johnson until she found her own place. Lorane was very diligent and throughout her life maintaining several jobs including Boeing Company in Seattle. Later on, she met and married Arthur Speaks and together they had their son Arthur Speaks Jr.
Her true passion was taking care of her father L.M Johnson. Her love for Hickory Hill brought her back home to Texas where she purchased a trailer-home and later moved to Pittsburg Housing.
People who knew Lorane knew her to be quiet and reserved but she always had a smile on her face and she had a smile that could light up the room. She was a kind soul and her close friends and family know she loved to dance and sing.
Preceding Lorane in death were her parents: L.M and Variee Johnson, brothers: Lawrence Ray Johnson, Aaron Johnson, Homer Johnson, sisters: Mary Jo Freeman, Caroline Johnson and Zekmarie Johnson.
Lorane Johnson leaves to cherish in her memory her son, Arthur Speaks Jr. (Arizona), her 2 grand-sons Ameer and Damani Speaks.Her 7 brothers: Billy and Herbert Johnson (Chicago, IL), Robert,Lonnie, Fletcher, Marion and Bennie Johnson (Seattle, WA). Her 4 sisters: Nelma Nworjih (Arizona), Lois Mills, Patsy Hampton, and Margie Johnson (Seattle, WA). A host of friends, nieces and nephews.
